Our Work

NIAE was founded on a set of principles that inform and guide all we do. These principles share a wider understanding: That as society changes, the way we educate all PK–20 students must adapt as well.

Successful modern education must be equitable, leveraging the richly diverse context of our communities. Initiatives require flexible thinking, collaboration with community partners, and must incorporate interdisciplinary approaches. Our research aims to develop innovative practices that support educators and improve their preparation outcomes. We also believe in the advancement of wrap-around services for students, families, educators, and their communities.

Developing Transformational Partnerships

We promote collaboration and systemic approaches to pressing educational challenges. Working closely with schools, districts, and community and industry partners—as well as college, university, and advocacy organizations—our partnerships facilitate open and timely communication, respect, reciprocity, and commitment that transforms our communities.

Growing a Culturally Responsive Educator Pipeline

We host a variety of initiatives and programs with a commitment to serve and reflect our rapidly diversifying and growing community. We conduct professional development for practitioners that speaks to their emerging needs and expands their awareness, using the most contemporary educational approaches.

Informing Community Centered Educational Policy

Our work addresses the needs of diverse communities, incorporating their participation and input in the process of identifying programmatic needs, interventions, best practices, and relevant research. We actively share our findings and insights with policymakers, education practitioners, and community partners.

Supporting Innovative Research Practices

We engage with a diverse range of PK-20 and community partners to conduct interdisciplinary research, identify emerging educational practices and services, and pursue significant, actionable outcomes.
